Josh has been teaching piano for the better part of 10 years. He specializes in classical music but enjoys teaching a variety of genres including jazz, pop, rock, salsa, cumbia, ragtime, video game music, and film music. He has a high retention rate with his students and has taught some of the same students for over 8 years. In terms of his style, Josh is a very patient teacher but will gently push his students in the direction he wants them to go while finding engaging material along the way. He knows that everyone is different so he meets them where they are and goes from there, setting satisfying goals to achieve. He wants students to play music and therefore express themselves, so artistry as well as technique is important but also developing an ear for listening and analyzing music. Lastly, he takes pride in helping his students achieve their goals whether that be playing something beautifully or just learning how to read and understand music.
